Key Aspects of the Solution
- A Kikusui PWR-01 realizes combining a wide range of voltage and current within the output power rating. With a single PWR-01 Series alone, it can cover an extensive output range equivalent to what is provided by three to six units of conventional single range DC power supply.
- While the conventional variable DC power supplies adopt 3 digit display, the PWR-01 has LCD 4 digit display.
- The PWR-01 supports network based remote control and monitoring, and equips variable internal resistance function and sequence function as standard.
Wide range feature enables a single PWR-01 to do the job of three conventional single range DC power supplies, that eliminates installation space issue.
Mr. R eventually reached to Kikusui web site and found a constant voltage/constant current automatic crossover DC power supply “PWR-01 Series”, which equips with wide range feature. The wide range feature allows the flexible and efficient configuration of voltage and current within the rated power range. Mr. R also learned that the PWR-01 supports test on 48V electrical architectures as well as test on 12V and 24V system. This helps reducing the cost and downsizing the installation space. Moreover, the PWR-01 with compact size enables us to mount more benchtop power supplies in our system rackmount.

Unlike the conventional power supplies with 3 digit display, the PWR-01 equips with 4 digit display. 5 digit value when querying the measured value via a PC can be useful to perform fine adjustments in output voltage and current value.
Mr. R was convinced it was the right solution to introduce the PWR-01 as their variable power supply.
Controlling and monitoring power supply over the network made our test more efficient.
The PWR-01 is equipped standard with LAN (LXI compliant) interface to support network based remote control and monitoring. Variable internal resistance feature and sequence function helped Mr. R to implement efficient test environment management practices. The introduction of the PWR-01 dramatically changed company P’s development environment, so that it optimized the test design and resulted in improving the product quality. The new testing environment allowed engineers to concentrate on the evaluation of the products. Consequently, company P produced a high performance product and was able to deliver it on time without issues. Moreover, the business partner gave a new business opportunity for their new development product.
Mr. R is scheduling to introduce more units of PWR-01 so that each of our engineers is provided with a PWR-01 unit to support development efforts.
